Jose A. Senso was born in Granada (Spain). He received his M.S. degree in Librarianship in 1996 and his Ph. D. in Information Science in 2002, both from the University of Granada.He is Tenured Professor at the Department of Information and Communication on the University of Granada, where he works since 1998. He is member of Access and Evaluation of Scientific Information research group.His current main research interest are in the fields of: semantic web, metadata, xml, rdf, linked data and ontologies.

It would be helpful to have a well-defined methodology to allow for management data processing from a single site, so as to take advantage of the capacity to link disperse data found in different systems, platforms, sources and/or formats. Based on functionalities and materials of the VLIR project, the purpose of this paper is to present a model that provides for interoperability by means of semantic alignment techniques and metadata crosswalks, and facilitates the fusion of information stored in diverse sources. Por lo general, las universidades cuentan con un acervo de conocimientos pluridisciplinarios, registrados en diferentes formatos, por lo que se propone UH-Ontology para el manejo de sus datos, tomando a la Universidad de La Habana como ejemplo de su implementación.
