Merna Aboul-Ezz

Merna Aboul Ezz is a Ph.D. Candidate in International Law at The Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID), Geneva, Switzerland and a Legal Researcher at the Colombia Global Freedom of Expression, Colombia University. She holds a MA in International Human Rights Law and a BA in Political Science and Middle East Studies from The American University in Cairo (AUC). During her BA, she double specialized in International Relations and International Law and double minored in Economics and Arab and Islamic Civilizations. She worked as a consultant at the Peacekeeping Training Programme Unit at the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), and as a project coordinator and researcher at Tadwein Gender Research Center in Cairo. She also worked with refugees at The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Her research interests are mainly in the field of international human rights law, feminism in international law and Islamic Law reform. She has published articles and papers reflecting her interests in International law, Islamic feminism, Islamic law reform and gender and labour market analysis
