There are different actions that society and parents can take to ensure that their children are protected from possible sexual abuse. For example, school-based educational programs that seek to inform children about the reality of abuse, parent education, and using the media to campaign against sexual offenders. Legislative actions are also available to seal the legal loopholes and gaps that exist in the constitution that make it ineffective in taming the heinous action. Besides, empowering communities and families to eradicate the vice is also a recommended solution especially for those living in low socioeconomic backgrounds.

By depicting the various court rulings and the role the state of Illinois, and in particular Chicago’s Cook County has had in reviewing, interpreting and implementing the Second Amendment, we try to inspect the case for the need to revise the Amendment to mitigate tragedies and foster a safer environment for every citizen. It also focuses on reforming criminal justice as part of efforts to avert future injustice. By using DNA testing technologies, it intends to exonerate thousands of wrongfully convicted people who are still in incarceration. To date, 367 people have been exonerated in the USA, with 281 exonerations facilitated by DNA testing. Wrongful convictions cause harm to the innocent souls and their relatives. Also, they impart a negative image on the police and judicial system, and erode the faith the public has on them. Moreover, when an innocent citizen is wrongly imprisoned, the real criminal remains free and continues to threaten public safety. The rate of exoneration in Louisiana will be examined by analyzing secondary information on the topic. This will involve studying the number of people freed by the innocence project in Louisiana from 2015 to 2019. The data obtained will be analyzed to establish the rate of exoneration in the state.
