Anders delves into humanity’s existential dilemmas and the role of music in addressing them. Anders’ anthropological theory, elucidated in works like Patologie de la Liberté and Une Interpretation de l'a Posteriori, challenges notions of fixed human identity and explores the dynamic relationship between individuals and their world. Through contrasting ideal types like the nihilist and the historical man, Anders navigates the complexities of human contingency and freedom. Philosophische Untersuchungen über musikalische Situationen ventures into a metaphysical exploration of music, portraying it as a realm beyond conventional analysis, where individuals experience a profound sense of being-in-the-world. Anders' philosophical journey culminates in a dialectic of objectification, challenging traditional dichotomies and advocating for a holistic understanding of human experience through the lens of music. This article is divided into three sections: the first one investigates the anthropological background which enables Anders to later theorise his philosophy of music. The second section dwells with Anders’ less known text Philosophische Untersuchungen über musikalische Situationen and his intricate analysis of the ‘musical situation’. The third section briefly synthesises what can be gained from Anders’ musicological writings in regard to humanity’s social nature.

Anders develops his ontology of technology as described in his Outdatedness of Mankind vol. I and II. I argue that Anders' three crises are a fundamental interpretative key for understanding his philosophy of technology as well as his negative anthropology which should be inscribed within his idiosyncratic approach of a critical theory of technology. The article is structured in the following manner: first, an introduction which presents a superstructure in which become possible to collocate Anders' discussion on crisis and shame. Second, there will be a discussion on the role played by the machine in the Andersian philosophy of technology. Third, there will be an analysis on the mechanism through which radio and television alter the traditional anthropomorphic notion of 'experience' through the creation of phantoms and matrices constituting the crisis of needs. Fourth, there will be an exemplification of the consequences of humanity's progressive detachment from the awareness of its praxis through the Andersian notion of 'Promethean Gap'. Fifth, the conclusion will summarise the main results of this article depicting what Anders describes as the pathological status of humanity in the age of the machines, that is, humanity's shame before its own products.

Anders declines the concept of ‘monstrous’ through the atrocities of the extermination camps at Auschwitz and the atomic bombing at Hiroshima. According to him, these dramatic events are related to and connected by mediality which de-responsabilises the agents committing such barbaric actions. The article is structured in the following manner: First, it presents a short introduction to the concept of mediality and its role in both Auschwitz and Hiroshima. Second, it focuses on the atomic bomb as best example of today’s ‘monstrous’ through the epistolary exchange between Anders and the pilot of Hiroshima Eatherly. Third, it will present the anthropological consequences of the bomb as described by Anders himself.

Adorno e Max Horkheimer hanno proposto in riferimento all'Odissea.

The article is composed of three different sections. The first section analyses Anders' early anthropological works to show how freedom has turned into its own negation. The second section examines the other two types of crisis revolving around Anders' notion of Promethean shame and techné. Building on these discussions, the final section offers an open suggestion for re-thinking the possibility of redeeming human action within the technological determinism of our epoch via an Andersian-inspired hypothesis.
