hartington walk
For anyone going to Hartington who is a hardy outdoor type...

I'm planning on leading a walk into the peaks on the saturday (so people can come back and have showers etc afterwards). I thought we could leave at about 10am after breakfast and the walk will take 4 or 5 hours.

I'm consulting my many walking books and trying to decide on a route. Basically there are 2 to choose from, a 5.5 mile walk into the dales with one climb up to the dale top. or a 7.5 mile one into the Dove valley and to see Pilsbury castle, which is the remains of a norman castle (just earthworks but you can definitely imagine the castle benig there) This walk is a bit more hilly and is described as having "lots of stiles" but I'm favouring this one. There is a pub halfway round for lunch, or we can take packed lunch from shops in hartington.

anyway, bring your walking boots!

EDIT- to say I am a fair weather walker so will be sitting drinking tea and playing games if the weather is rubbish. Also I will be carrying a baby in a sling so will be walking slowly :)

Still pregnant
Looks like I am late to the party, or something! Everyone else has sprogged now and I'm still waiting around. I guess I am only 3 days overdue but I'm getting fed up of the twinges and wondering if something is happening that's been going on for 2 weeks or so now. I am seeing the midwife on Wednesday and she's going to try and poke the baby out then but in the meantime I am under instructions to walk lots and have lots of sex (difficult when you're the size of a house and being told to do it makes it less fun). Apparently curry doesn't work so people can stop suggesting it now.

fed up with the waiting and mental strain of not knowing when. Physically I am fine so I guess I better just keep getting on with it.

Current Mood: crankycranky

more running stuff- are you fed up of reading this yet?
So on strict instructions I went and did my long run this morning. Rachel joined me at my house for 8 am and we ran out along bolehill road, long lane and down to rivelin valley paths. It was a lovely easy run and I didn't feel too tired or achy and it was definitely do-able all the way round. Mostly because we ran very very slowly but that was the instruction!

We saw many interesting things: From Walkley post office we saw a big patchwork hot air balloon taking off from somewhere in hillsborough. There were horses and a squirrel and we think a yellow finch and a beautiful meadow of clover and buttercups in flower.

This was the kind of run that reminds me why running is so nice. So glad I did it.

Oh,and it was about 5.3 miles so that makes it about 16 miles run this week. Hurrah

Ok, lesson planned and resourced. Powerpoint left to do, as well as reading up on their ofsted report and a meeeeelion government policies on teaching stuff. And sorting out an outfit. Is it ok to not wear a suit as a) I don't own once since the last one starting falling off me and b) I always feel uncomfortable in them and end up taking the jacket off anyway.

I am taking my second cover lesson in less than 24 hours. great.  So any work I'd planned to do (and believe me there is plenty) is now inaccesible and I am stuck with year 7 planning menus for their food tech lesson. meh.

Tonight I am not doing any work, despite having a scheme of work due in tomorrow. I am going out with my man and they can cope if it's late. (again)

In other news I got observed again yesterday for my PSHE course and got a glowing report. Go figure. I also took a last minute cover for an assistant head and got given a bottle of wine and a big thank you. I guess it's not all bad.

tonight: starbucks for coffee and muffins, filum and dinner out. hurrah! Tomorrow is friday!
