Eamonn Connor
Eamonn Connor recently completed a PhD at the University of Glasgow. His dissertation examined autobiographical texts relating to the experience of taking or working on a leisure cruise during the period 1880-1960, encompassing the so-called “Golden Age” of ocean steamship travel in Britain. By reading the ship as a spatial and social environment of capitalist modernity, this study situates the cruise holiday within the broader cultural development of leisure in Britain.
