Convey that conducts can be plural and still fall into the code
With respect to inclusiveness, freedom in enabling more than one conduct, and reduce totalitarianism on our planet, I suggest this minor modification.
I think you may misunderstand the function of a code of conduct. It is not the moral structure but rather the minimum requirement. There is one minimum requirement described in the CoC, there are many ways to be above said minimum requirement.
@voronoipotato thanks, I guess it is "conduct" which sounds a bit rigid to me, that I try to soften.
It reminds me of how jail sentence can be ended earlier (we call that "libération pour bonne conduite"), and I don't like "community" = "jail" association.
On that line of reasoning, I don't like "code" either, compilers and interpreters are quite rigid in their understanding of input (code), so it conveys rigidity.
People engaging in community are human beings, not robots, and they are not in jail, but in a open or free software communities (for those having such a "code").
I'm probably not the only one who this would come to mind, and it could be avoided with a rewording.
Maybe "ethos of participation" or some other wording conveying the same, would make that sound better to me, and others who've rejected the idea of a "code of conduct" for their communities.
If my explanation doesn't make sense to anyone, then I may be the only person around so far who's put off by the rigid wording.
If I'm not the target audience of the code of conduct, and not many people in the world get a negative reaction with the current wording, I guess the issue won't gain much engagement.
If there is controversy coming up in the discussion, I propose my minor edit (which is innocuous if you look at it) should be evaluated on it's merit, not my comment on the issue.
I guess we can crowd source the discussion on wording: https://twitter.com/zerolehero/status/1379579917290078208
