Describe the solution you'd like?
First of all, thank you for building such a powerful and modern terminal. I would like to request a feature that would make Warp not only a great terminal, but also a lightweight IDE for many developers.
Requested Feature
Support for a VS Code-like layout, including:
Left panel → Project Explorer (file and folder tree view)
Right panel → File content displayed in a lightweight editor or viewer
Bottom panel → Integrated Warp terminal
This layout is already very familiar to developers who use VS Code and other IDEs. Having it in Warp would allow users to stay inside Warp for most of their daily workflow without switching between multiple tools.
Why This Matters
Productivity: Quick access to files, the ability to view or even edit them directly, while keeping the terminal in context.
Familiarity: Developers are used to the VS Code layout, which makes onboarding easier.
All-in-one environment: Instead of constantly switching between a terminal and an editor, Warp could provide both in a single, unified UI.
Current Situation
Warp already supports split panes and opening files in external editors.
There are great features like clickable file paths, Markdown viewer, and link handling.
However, there is no built-in project explorer sidebar or integrated file editor panel inside Warp.
Benefit for Developers
By implementing this feature, Warp would move closer to being a true “code + terminal” environment:
Faster development flow without leaving the terminal.
Ideal for quick edits, reviewing logs, configs, or scripts directly within Warp.
Competitive edge over other terminals, as it combines terminal power with IDE-like usability.
