warp.exe process does not terminate reliably #10202

Describe the bug

Sometimes when I exit warp the window visually closes but the warp.exe process remains running. This only happens some of the time. My username on Windows has a space in it like "John Doe" between the first and last name and therefore so does my user's home directory... mentioning this just in case it is relevant.

This is bad for two reasons:

  1. It means the program appears to have exited but it really still running.
  2. When the app asks to auto-update sometimes warp.exe fails to terminate which causes the installer to hang when it can't update warp.exe because warp.exe is still in use as it is still running. Then I need to manually terminate warp.exe and tell the installer to "try again" to get it to complete. In other words, warp.exe failing to terminate reliably also breaks the auto-update mechanism some of the time.

To reproduce

  1. Run warp.exe
  2. Exit warp.exe OR let warp commence with an auto-update by clicking to allow the update in the title bar of the window. (allowing the update to commence also causes warp to try to terminate)
  3. Sometimes the warp window will disappear but the warp.exe process will continue to run erroneously.

Does this block you from using Warp daily?

Yes, this issue prevents me from using Warp daily.

Is this an issue only in Warp?

Yes, I confirmed that this only happens in Warp, not other terminals.
