People keep misunderstanding quest_traffic_signals_vibrate in the Czech Republic #6224

General

There is perhaps a dozen or two crossings with a vibrating button in Czechia but users have mapped 400+ of them, almost exclusively via StreetComplete, and several have admitted in messages that those were mistakes. I find the wording of the question (in Czech, English and German) pretty clear but that could be because I have encountered tactile buttons before. There seems to be confusion of the icon with tactile paving (since the current icon shows a blind person feeling with a cane), sound or other quest. Some users native to Germany also habitually click "Yes" because vibrating buttons at traffic lights are the norm there. Therefore, I suggest one or more of the following solutions:

  1. Hide the quest in Czechia by default
    • to map the few vibrating buttons, users could re-enable it in settings, use "Edit tags" in SCEE or simply use another editor
  2. Add an "Are you sure?" confirmation to "Yes" answers
    • "Such crossings are rare and buttons with that function often cannot be distinguished by sight alone. Did you check that there is a tactile feature indicating the state of the traffic lights?
  3. Change the current icon to more closely reflect the "feel the button with your hand" nature of the feature

The discussion in the talk-cz thread (in Czech) is ongoing.
