Please check the sha256 for the new version.
Also, we usually recommend that existing versions be deprecated (https://spack.readthedocs.io/en/latest/packaging_guide.html#deprecating-old-versions) before removing in case it's in a build cache somewhere and someone still wants to use it. Not sure if that is as relevant to beta version but I thought I'd bring the option to your attention in case you weren't aware of it.
