I don't have a Monterey machine to test this on, but the patch looks reasonable and the checksum is correct.

I think we need to reopen this issue. I've tried to build [email protected] on Monterey 12.2.1 (Darwin 21.3.0) and it fails in the same manner as this commit (with error Error: configuring for an unreleased macOS version x86_64-apple-darwin21.3.0).

@cjobrie can you post the output log and spack debug report? Also xcodebuild -sdk -version | grep MacOSX? I have succesfully built [email protected] with monterey.

My apologies, there was a problem with my spack configuration file. Your patch in the develop branch did function properly!
