I just saw #12280 and that made me realize that I have an example of data scaling that I find quite didactic and that we might want to include in the docs:

I can dig up the code somewhere but it's pretty straight-forward. It just shows how much euclidean distance, and therefore nearest neighbors, is sensitive to scaling.
