What

Removes a large cluster of dead code from rolldown_plugin_utils and the binding wrapper types that were its only nominal consumers. rolldown_plugin_utils/src goes from 19 files down to 6.

Deleted modules in rolldown_plugin_utils:

  • Asset-URL machinery: render_asset_url_in_js, file_to_url, to_output_file_path, to_relative_runtime_path, into_asset_url_iter, public_file_to_built_url, check_public_file, join_url_segments, uri
  • Query helpers used only by the above: find_special_query, remove_special_query, inject_query
  • module_preload
  • CSS-bundling leftovers: css, get_hash, get_chunk_original_name, and the ChunkMetadata / ViteMetadata / CSS/HTML cache structs plus the imported_css field in constants

Deleted binding wrapper types in rolldown_binding (BindingAssetInlineLimit, BindingRenderBuiltUrl, BindingModulePreload, and their napi sub-objects). Regenerating the bindings drops the now-unused BindingModulePreloadOptions, BindingRenderBuiltUrlConfig, BindingRenderBuiltUrlRet, and BindingResolveDependenciesContext interfaces from binding.d.cts.

The dependency cleanup that just build performs is included: rolldown_plugin_utils loses 12 dependencies that are no longer referenced (anyhow, arcstr, cow-utils, dashmap, derive_more, itertools, percent-encoding, regex, rolldown_common, rolldown_sourcemap, rustc-hash, sugar_path), with the matching Cargo.lock update.

Why

None of this code is reachable. The asset-URL, render-built-url, asset-inline-limit, and module-preload pieces were scaffolding for Vite features that were never wired up: the Binding* wrapper types that would have carried them into a plugin config are themselves unreferenced (manual FromNapiValue, no #[napi] on the wrapper, not a field of any exported struct), so nothing on the Rust or JS side uses them. Removing those wrappers leaves the whole utility cluster with no callers.

is_css_request / is_css_module, get_hash, get_chunk_original_name, and the CSS/HTML cache structs are leftovers from the CSS bundling path that was dropped, with no remaining callers.

The live utilities (data_to_esm, is_special_query, strip_bom, to_string_literal, and the ViteImportGlob / THRESHOLD_SIZE constants) are untouched.

Verification

  • cargo check --workspace, cargo clippy (rolldown_plugin_utils and rolldown_binding) with --deny warnings, cargo fmt --all --check
  • just build-rolldown rebuilds the .node binding and regenerates the bindings; tsc -p tsconfig.check.json passes
  • The full workspace compiling plus a clean type-check confirms every removed symbol was dead

### What

Removes a large cluster of dead code from `rolldown_plugin_utils` and the binding wrapper types that were its only nominal consumers. `rolldown_plugin_utils/src` goes from 19 files down to 6.

Deleted modules in `rolldown_plugin_utils`:

- Asset-URL machinery: `render_asset_url_in_js`, `file_to_url`, `to_output_file_path`, `to_relative_runtime_path`, `into_asset_url_iter`, `public_file_to_built_url`, `check_public_file`, `join_url_segments`, `uri`
- Query helpers used only by the above: `find_special_query`, `remove_special_query`, `inject_query`
- `module_preload`
- CSS-bundling leftovers: `css`, `get_hash`, `get_chunk_original_name`, and the `ChunkMetadata` / `ViteMetadata` / CSS/HTML cache structs plus the `imported_css` field in `constants`

Deleted binding wrapper types in `rolldown_binding` (`BindingAssetInlineLimit`, `BindingRenderBuiltUrl`, `BindingModulePreload`, and their napi sub-objects). Regenerating the bindings drops the now-unused `BindingModulePreloadOptions`, `BindingRenderBuiltUrlConfig`, `BindingRenderBuiltUrlRet`, and `BindingResolveDependenciesContext` interfaces from `binding.d.cts`.

The dependency cleanup that `just build` performs is included: `rolldown_plugin_utils` loses 12 dependencies that are no longer referenced (anyhow, arcstr, cow-utils, dashmap, derive_more, itertools, percent-encoding, regex, rolldown_common, rolldown_sourcemap, rustc-hash, sugar_path), with the matching `Cargo.lock` update.

### Why

None of this code is reachable. The asset-URL, render-built-url, asset-inline-limit, and module-preload pieces were scaffolding for Vite features that were never wired up: the `Binding*` wrapper types that would have carried them into a plugin config are themselves unreferenced (manual `FromNapiValue`, no `#[napi]` on the wrapper, not a field of any exported struct), so nothing on the Rust or JS side uses them. Removing those wrappers leaves the whole utility cluster with no callers.

`is_css_request` / `is_css_module`, `get_hash`, `get_chunk_original_name`, and the CSS/HTML cache structs are leftovers from the CSS bundling path that was dropped, with no remaining callers.

The live utilities (`data_to_esm`, `is_special_query`, `strip_bom`, `to_string_literal`, and the `ViteImportGlob` / `THRESHOLD_SIZE` constants) are untouched.

### Verification

- `cargo check --workspace`, `cargo clippy` (rolldown_plugin_utils and rolldown_binding) with `--deny warnings`, `cargo fmt --all --check`
- `just build-rolldown` rebuilds the `.node` binding and regenerates the bindings; `tsc -p tsconfig.check.json` passes
