watcher.rs keeps #[tracing::instrument(level = "debug", skip_all)] on run, wait_for_close, and close, which are now synchronous fns returning a future. tracing::instrument only wraps the future body for async fn; on a sync fn it enters the span only for the synchronous setup and exits before the boxed future is polled.
If that span coverage matters, the fix is to instrument the async block instead, e.g.: use tracing::Instrument;
