I had an issue earlier today where I tried uploading references into a fresh checkout of Ref Studio and it just hung forever. @gjreda correctly figured out that my problem would be fixed by #274. In the future, though, it would be useful if the app could detect a catastrophic failure in the sidecar like this one and display the error state to the user with as much information as is available.
