The problem worked around here might be worth reporting to xarray Though it is a maybe bit obscure because it doesn't affect the writing of data to files, since the types are converted OK. |

I'm merging this to fix ongoing CI failures currently blocking all PRs. A whatsnew for this will be included in #137 when we get 'towncrier' going. |
