HamClock

See https://github.com/komacke/hamclock for the ongoing maintenance of the HamClock client beyond v4.22, undertaking as part of the Open Hamclock Backend project.

This repository is an archive of historical versions of the HamClock client released by Clear Sky Institute (CSI) under an MIT License. It was created to preserve the digital history, and provide a baseline in the rare occasion that it may be useful to delve into and diff the history of the project.

Background

HamClock is a kiosk-style application that provides real time space weather, radio propagation models, operating events and other information particularly useful to the radio amateur. HamClock was introduced in an October 2017 QST article.

In early 2026, the community of HamClock enthusiasts was sad to learn that the creator of HamClock was now an SK and that the HamClock site announced:

HamClock has reached end-of-life, the last release is version 4.22. All HamClocks will cease to function in June 2026. Thank you for your interest. Elwood Downey, WB0OEW, [email protected]

Since the news, a few efforts have kicked off to maintain of create something similar for the future. Perhaps the leading open source effort to develop and maintain a system fully compatible with the original CSI project is the Open Hamclock Backend.

There are others, see https://leap.tardate.com/radio/hamclock/ for some research and discussion of other efforts.
