Closing: this cherry-pick re-adds 3 source files (src/markdown/ir.ts, src/terminal/ansi.ts, src/markdown/ir.table-code.test.ts) that were deliberately deleted from main during a refactor.
The CI checkout failed because the merge is unstable — these files reference imports that no longer exist in current main. The underlying code has been refactored and these files are no longer valid.
Recommendation: the upstream PR #55596 (March 2026) needs to be rewritten against the current architecture. A cherry-pick cannot bridge this refactor gap.
