Summary

Avoid showing the Homebrew install prompt during openclaw onboard on FreeBSD. The onboarding flow was treating every non-Windows platform as Homebrew-capable, which led to a misleading brew recommendation on FreeBSD.

Quick follow-up here: this is still intended as a very small, platform-gated fix for issue #68893.

The change only narrows the Homebrew prompt so it no longer appears on FreeBSD, without changing the onboarding flow for supported platforms.

If this is still the preferred direction, I’m happy to keep it updated. If there’s already another fix path you want to keep as the single thread, I can close this to reduce backlog.

Close PR #68943 as a duplicate of the still-open canonical FreeBSD Homebrew prompt work in #69002, with the underlying bug tracked by #68893. Current main has not implemented the fix yet: setupSkills still shows the Homebrew note on every non-Windows platform, and the local test file does not include the FreeBSD regression test from this PR. The PRtags duplicate group and the author's follow-up both support consolidating on a single open fix thread.

Best possible solution:

Keep the remaining FreeBSD Homebrew prompt fix consolidated in #69002, with #68893 as the underlying bug report, and close #68943 as a duplicate to reduce competing PRs for the same one-line behavior change plus regression test.

Current main still uses non-Windows gate: At current main SHA 6cd047e, needsBrewPrompt is gated by process.platform !== "win32", so FreeBSD would still pass the platform check when a brew-backed skill is selected and brew is missing. (src/commands/onboard-skills.ts:111, 6cd047e7c270)
Current tests do not include this FreeBSD regression: The current onboard skills tests cover skipping brew-backed installs and showing the Homebrew note on non-Windows hosts, but there is no process.platform = "freebsd" regression case in current main.
