Closing this as implemented after Codex review.

Current main already supports inline image rendering in Control UI/webchat, including assistant media replies, transcript MediaPath images, and webchat image blocks from gateway replies; the changelog shows this shipped in v2026.4.10.

What I checked:

Webchat UI uses grouped message renderer: The chat view imports renderMessageGroup and uses it for message rendering in the Control UI/webchat path. (ui/src/ui/views/chat.ts:17, 6944d7025d9c)
Grouped renderer extracts and renders images inline: extractImages() pulls images from structured content and transcript MediaPath/MediaPaths, and renderMessageImages() renders them as .chat-message-image elements inside chat bubbles. (ui/src/ui/chat/grouped-render.ts:131, 6944d7025d9c)
Inline image rendering is covered by UI tests: Tests assert assistant MEDIA: images render inline, transcript images render from MediaPath/MediaPaths, legacy input_image blocks render, and managed outgoing images are fetched and shown. (ui/src/ui/chat/grouped-render.test.ts:562, 6944d7025d9c)
Gateway builds webchat image blocks: buildWebchatAssistantMessageFromReplyPayloads() converts image reply media into webchat input_image blocks, and the matching tests verify image data URLs become webchat image content. (src/gateway/server-methods/chat-webchat-media.ts:185, 6944d7025d9c)
Changelog records the shipped webchat media rendering change: The 2026.4.10 changelog entry explicitly says Control UI/webchat now normalizes assistant MEDIA:/reply/voice directives into structured bubble rendering. (CHANGELOG.md:881, 6944d7025d9c)

So I’m closing this as already implemented rather than keeping a duplicate issue open.
