Description
In this post, we provide the current status of the recent releases of the desktop client.
What this means for the version roadmap:
- 4.0: 🟢 latest version
- 3.17: 🟡 limited version
- 3.13: 🟡 last macOS legacy 10.10 version
- < 3.12: 🛑 deprecated
For enterprise customers, the corresponding update channel for the client will be activated soon.
Key changes in 4.0:
- Client stability
- macOS virtual file system
- Stabilisation in managing file provider
- Extended support for file locking by third-party apps like Microsoft Office and LibreOffice
- New accounts use virtual file system by default
- Public share links can now be synchronised by pasting the link in the "Add account" wizard
- Support for "Busy" status available since Nextcloud Hub 25 Autumn

Bug fixes
- Fixed quota check failing when trying to upload files to a folder with a big quota remaining (fix(quota): return unlimited quota if server query is invalid or file is in folder root. #8714)
- Fixed negative numbers appearing in current item progress (fix(folderstatusmodel): 32 bit int overflow in current item progress fixed #8759)
- Nautilus emblems are now scaled to the proper size (Fix nautilus integration emblems #8769)
- Server notifications (e.g. from Talk) no longer appear more than once in the activity list under certain circumstances (fix: try to avoid displaying duplicate server notifications in activity list #8782)
- macOS-vfs: Fixed intermittent errors during initialisation of the File Provider extension (fix(file-provider): report a different error if database is not ready #8885)
