Difftool Commit Message now removes whitespace from default template #71312

Description

@CChelak

I posted this concern on stack overflow because I was unsure if it was a feature already present and I was unaware of, but it has been silent and I'm pretty sure now this is a feature request.

After one of the most recent updates, the message editor has begun ignoring whitespace inside my git commit template. Having the whitespace was preferred for my use case, and now without it, I get the warning that that what it thinks is my subject line is now beyond the character limit. I enjoy having the character limit warning, so I don't want to turn it off. I just want the editor to be able to see and keep whitespace if I prefer. Is it possible?

If you need an example of why someone would prefer whitespace, see the link above for to my stack exchange example.
