6.8 series is the LTS branch, so this port should definitely be merged IMO :)

Would it be possible to add a dependency on qtbase[widgets] from the qttools feature "designer"?
Or should that be a separate PR?

@Cheney-W Does this feature set even work with the current version of qtbase?

I tested the current version of qtbase, and the issue still exists.
