Hello there, I just found out something about the new quote posts feature that may lead to unintended outcomes and confusion.

If one pastes in a private mention (DM) a link to a toot that is allowed to be quoted, the author of the linked post will be notified and be able to see the content of the DM, as if they were explicitly mentioned (just like typing @[email protected]).

This could lead to people including unintended participants in a private message.

But if the toot is not allowed to be quoted, it'll be just a simple and plain link, with no notification being sent.

Anyway, is this by design? An unintended side effect? Something else? And what can be done about it?
