I left a comment on #300 but I think this is an isolated issue so I'm making a new one.
In attempting to connect my store for the first time, I was met with this error after a long wait, a few times:
Mailchimp says: API Request Error - cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 60000 milliseconds with 0 bytes received
I tested this locally with versions 2.1.13 and 2.1.12 of the plugin. When testing with version 2.1.11 of the plugin, I got it to work!
I haven't had enough time to dig through the plugin code here to check the diffs on what changed. I'll try to find some time later this week and if I can fix it, submit a PR.
