If your client window popup but freeze after some time (blue or white) then it's an auto-connection problem. Your main server may be down or slowdown -- that's normal after new xmage releases. Wait some time and try later.

Easy fix: run xmage without internet connection and uncheck auto-login checkbox in popup connection dialog.

Hard fix: If you don't want to go offline then use that:

For Windows: go to search -> regedit -> run it (for windows machine) and delete autoConnect setting in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\mage\client:

For MacOS -- find settings file and delete/change same param:
The preferences files generated by the Preferences API are named com.apple.java.util.prefs. The user’s preferences file is stored in their home directory (~/Library/Preferences/). Warning: you must restart Mac after edit/delete that file to apply new changes.
- If you can't find ~/Library/Preferences folder then use special command to enable it: open Spotlight, Applications > Utilities, or Launchpad -> Utilities, and enter:
- chflags nohidden ~/Library/
For Linux -- The user’s preferences file is stored in /home/xxx/.java/.userPrefs/mage/client
