Current behavior
An instance withing the network is not able to reach outside of the network.
Expected behavior
An instance within the network is able to reach outside of the network, because the security.acls.default.egress.action config is set to allow.
Steps to reproduce
- Create an ovn network with
security.acls.default.ingress.action: rejectandsecurity.acls.default.egress.action: allow - Create an empty ACL and assign it to the network
- Create an instance within the network
- Try to ping something outside of the network and observe the failure
- Create an INGRESS allow rule on the ACL that is not related to the IP of the instance at all (e.g. type: tcp from 1.2.3.4 to 1.1.1.1)
- Try to ping something outside of the network and observe the success
Instead of an INGRESS allow rule, a forward can also be created and the instance will be able to reach the outside net.
If an ingress reject/drop rule is created instead of the allow rule, the instance will not be able to reach the public net.
I suppose my question really is, how can ingress rules influence egress traffic?
