The original goal of the work that resulted in #1260 and #1261. This work supports the new npm5
file:specifier changes such that one can completely ignorelerna bootstrap, just usenpm installin the root, andlerna publishwill "just work" (that is, a version with semver specifiers will be published, and the relativefile:links will be preserved in the source).I hope to use this in the dogfooding of lerna in lerna (#174).
It's pretty exciting.
