This PR updates the Pebble template engine dependency from version 3.1.6 to 3.2.4 and addresses the breaking package name changes introduced after Pebble 3.2.x.

Background

Pebble made a breaking change after version 3.2.x by moving from the com.mitchellbosecke.pebble package to io.pebbletemplates.pebble. This update is necessary to:

  1. Address CVE security vulnerabilities in older Pebble versions
  2. Use the correct package structure for future compatibility
  3. Align with the official Pebble migration path

Changes Made

Dependencies

  • Updated Pebble version from 3.1.6 → 3.2.4 in javalin-rendering/pom.xml

Package Imports

Updated all imports from the old package structure to the new one:

// Before
import com.mitchellbosecke.pebble.PebbleEngine
import com.mitchellbosecke.pebble.loader.ClasspathLoader

// After  
import io.pebbletemplates.pebble.PebbleEngine
import io.pebbletemplates.pebble.loader.ClasspathLoader

Files Updated

  • JavalinPebble.kt - Main Pebble renderer implementation
  • TestTemplates.kt - Test file imports
  • RenderingDependency.kt - Dependency detection class reference and version

Verification

All existing functionality is preserved:

  • ✅ 14 rendering tests pass (0 failures)
  • ✅ Pebble template rendering works correctly
  • ✅ Dependency detection functioning properly
  • ✅ No breaking changes for Javalin users

Example Usage

The Javalin API remains unchanged for users:
