I've tested out this technique and it works reasonably well. My main concern is the rename of CHANGES.rst to NEWS.rst doesn't have the desired effect. Downstream repos show it as a merge conflict with CHANGES.rst being deleted or modified. It's going to require some special handling to resolve that conflict correctly. |
