The event calendar only supports the month view. The only way to view the events within a week or a day is via the "Events overview". This view is pretty old and improvements coming to event calendar (e.g. #6105, #6106) won't be available in it.

Describe the solution you'd like

Add week/day views in the calendar component, supported via the TimeGrid View in the FullCalendar library.

Describe alternatives you've considered

Since there is a big overlap between the event calendar and the events overview pages, I have considered implementing the missing functionality from the events overview in the event calendar.

What is missing in the event calendar is:

• Display sessions and contributions within events. This would be possible via FullCalendar's Content Injection.
• Allowing the user to choose the detail level by adding a dropdown in the sidebar like in the events overview.

Once this is done, I don't see any reason to keep the old events overview page around.
