For consistency with the migration to WidgetState, consider renaming this field to widgetStates and the associated methods (updateMaterialState, setMaterialState, etc.) to use WidgetState in their names (e.g., updateWidgetState). This would make the mixin's API clearer and more consistent with the rest of the framework's migration. This would require updating consumers of this mixin, such as RawMaterialButton, within this PR.

I vote we keep the materialState here. If we want to change this, we should create WidgetStateMixin and deprecate this class

Noted for the property materialStates.
To confirm, you're suggesting to revert the changes of this file and use the type MaterialState instead of WidgetState, right?

We can change the Type to WidgetState which is not a breaking change, but we should keep the property name in tack.
It doesn't worth it to break this class just to update the property name.

Follow up of flutter#174421 Migrate some files from `MaterialState` to `WidgetState`. This PR only focus on `WidgetState` for a subset of files. - This minimizes conflicts and reduces the size of the PR for easier reviews and follow up - I'll work on the other elements of `packages/flutter/lib/src/material/material_state.dart` into other PRs ## Pre-launch Checklist - [x] I read the [Contributor Guide] and followed the process outlined there for submitting PRs. - [x] I read the [Tree Hygiene] wiki page, which explains my responsibilities. - [x] I read and followed the [Flutter Style Guide], including [Features we expect every widget to implement]. - [x] I signed the [CLA]. - [ ] I listed at least one issue that this PR fixes in the description above. - [x] I updated/added relevant documentation (doc comments with `///`). - [x] I added new tests to check the change I am making, or this PR is [test-exempt]. - [x] I followed the [breaking change policy] and added [Data Driven Fixes] where supported. - [x] All existing and new tests are passing.
