We are planning to use Extism to add plugin support for a webserver software licensed under AGPL. You can read our unfinished RFC here.

One open question is about the licensing of plugins. Ideally we would allow plugins to use any license chosen by the developer, including proprietary. However the GPL license has some restrictions for plugin licensing. It is not clear how these restrictions apply to Extism plugins using webassembly, and anyway the FAQ is quite vague.

Do you have any information which of these restrictions apply in case of Extism, if any? Or is it valid if we as maintainers allow arbitrary licenses for plugins, regardless what the license says?
