Description
Hi,
Background info:
I used dxwrapper with Trackmania United Forever on an older laptop with Intel Iris Xe graphics because of a crash that happened when shadows were enabled, due to a driver incompatibility. I don't think I have that crash on my newer laptop with Intel Arc graphics, but I'm still testing dxwrapper with this game in case I want or need to use dxwrapper again. Dxwrapper fixed the shadow crash and mostly seems to work well with Trackmania, but it introduces a texture glitch of its own. I'm using the EnableD3d9Wrapper and ForceDirect3D9On12 settings set to on, by the way.
The older laptop has an older version of dxwrapper from a few months ago (not sure which), and the newer laptop has the current release of dxwrapper. Both have the same texture issue. I might not use dxwrapper for now on my current laptop if the game works without it, and due to the texture glitch,, but I figured I'd report the issue anyway. It might also be useful to know in case other games have a similar problem. Trackmania is pretty old, and there may be more graphics incompatibilities with Windows in the future, so it's good for me to have an option to upconvert DirectX 9 to DirectX 12 if there are issues in the future.
The issue:
In Trackmania United Forever, some textures render incorrectly. When the car is moving, some textures flicker in and out, turning to gray momentarily before going back. The lighting also doesn't seem correct, like some scenes aren't being illuminated properly. I've attached three screenshots. One shows how the building looks with dxwrapper when the texture is rendered. Another one shows when the texture disappears. And one of them shows the building without dxwrapper, as it should look when rendered correctly. The screenshot where the building is illuminated brightly is the one without dxwrapper. These screenshots are from the map "Bay A4," but I'm pretty sure I've seen this texture glitch in other places. On this level it's very visible though.
