Builds on top of #25127

Scope

What's changed:

  • Adds a migration to add indexes (directus_revisions.parent and/or directus_activity.timestamp) to speed up retention cleanup.
  • Adds the option to create indexes concurrently over the API by adding the ?concurrentIndexCreation query parameter on the /fields and /collection endpoints.
POST /collections?concurrentIndexCreation
POST /fields/:collection?concurrentIndexCreation
PATCH /fields/:collection?concurrentIndexCreation
PATCH /fields/:collection/:field?concurrentIndexCreation
  • Adds the concurrentIndexCreation option to graphql fields and collection mutations

Potential Risks / Drawbacks

  • Make sure to double check the custom SQL queries for potential injection of user controlled data.

Review Notes / Questions

  • CockroachDB always does concurrent index creation so no extra logic required
  • SQLite does not support concurrent index creation so no extra logic required
  • MySQL/MariaDB concurrent index creation support depends on the used ENGINE which is not info we currently have
  • Do we want to default to concurrent index creation everywhere?
  • Let the name nitpicking about the concurrentIndexCreation naming begin! I tried to keep it extremely clear what the parameter does in its name.
