Njord Protocol

Njord Protocol

Programmable USDC payment rails. Pay per verified action. Settled on-chain in ~3 seconds.

Solana Devnet License: MIT Dashboard TypeScript SDK Anchor

Njord is an on-chain protocol on Solana for paying per verified action. A funder deposits USDC into a campaign escrow; when a verified action is recorded on-chain, the program calculates the payout, deducts the fee, and releases funds to the earner's wallet in ~3 seconds for ~$0.00025 β€” no invoice, no middleman, no human approving each transfer.

Today that primitive powers decentralized affiliate marketing: companies fund campaigns, affiliates earn commissions settled in seconds, and independent bridge operators bring the whole world in through fiat on/off ramps.

No more NET-90 payment terms. No more black-box tracking. No more trust issues.

Why this matters for the agent economy

Strip Njord down to its core and you get escrow + verified action + automatic settlement β€” the exact payment leg autonomous software needs in 2026. As the "AI agent economy" takes shape (the x402 / HTTP-402 pattern, stablecoin rails, sub-second settlement), agents and backends increasingly need to pay per action, per conversion, or per API call without a person approving each transfer.

That is what Njord's escrow does. A funded budget an agent can't overspend, payment triggered by a verified event (record_attribution β†’ payout), and settlement fast and cheap enough to sit inside a request/response loop. "Affiliate" becomes "agent"; "conversion" becomes "completed action"; the same machinery settles it.

To be clear about scope: the shipped product today is human affiliate marketing on devnet. The agent-native pay-per-action API, x402 adapter, and programmatic budget guardrails are on the roadmap, not yet live. We build in the open and flag what's real versus planned.

The Problem with Affiliate Marketing Today

  • Slow payments β€” Affiliates wait 30–90 days to get paid
  • Opaque tracking β€” Proprietary dashboards with no way to verify numbers
  • High fees β€” Networks take 15–30% of every commission
  • Fraud with no accountability β€” Bad actors thrive, honest participants suffer
  • Regional gatekeeping β€” KYC-heavy platforms lock out global talent

What you can build on Njord

Njord is a general pay-per-verified-action settlement layer. Some of what that enables:

Use case Who funds What triggers payout
Affiliate marketing (live today) A company A verified purchase or signup attributed to an affiliate
Pay-per-conversion referrals A SaaS company A verified paid conversion
Bounties & task rewards A DAO or company A verified completed task
Autonomous agents paying for actions (roadmap) An agent operator An agent reports a completed action against a pre-funded budget β€” pay-per-call, pay-per-result
Agent-to-agent settlement (roadmap) One agent's budget Another agent completes a requested action (x402-style)

The escrow, attribution, and payout instructions are the same across all of these β€” the difference is only who funds the budget and what counts as a verified action.
