This release is a bit bigger than I was expecting, good to get it out. Thanks for updating, here is a generation of the notes using the "-r -g" options instead of "-l" on the release tool.

containerd 1.7.16

Welcome to the v1.7.16 release of containerd!

The sixteenth patch release for containerd 1.7 contains various fixes and updates.

@dmcgowan I was going to rebase this PR to take #10129 as this wasn't merged till yesterday evening. Should we revert the check in and resubmit this PR?
