The current CI only covers Ubuntu 18.04 and Fedora 35.
It would be nice to cover the EL 8 family too for helping adoption of containerd in the enterprise market.
Some enterprise users still want CentOS 7 too (so runc still has CentOS 7 CI), but probably we should prioritize the EL 8 family (EOL: circa 2029) over CentOS 7 (EOL: 2024).
Implementation
We have been using Vagrant on macOS on GHA for testing Fedora 35, but we are not happy with its performance and flakiness.
So probably we should use Cirrus CI.
