The syntax used to add a link seems to now work anymore with the latest iproute2.

This seems to be backwards compatible with iproute2 v6.1.0 (that is the default in Ubuntu 24.04 LTS) and iproute2 5.15 (that is the default in Ubuntu 22.04 LTS).
