cache2k has approximate statistics for the hit counter. It uses the hit counter inside the cache entry, that is also used by the eviction algorithm. The statistics come for free, however, we need to iterate through all cache entries and sum up the hits when we request the statistics.

In case a cache is big and statistics are polled frequently, that might cause quite a CPU load.
Maybe do some deeper investigations on the overhead.
