Feature request
I would like BookOrbit to support a single-page comic/manga reading mode for image-based EPUB files.
Current behavior
When opening manga stored as EPUB, BookOrbit appears to use the regular EPUB/Foliate reader. On mobile, some image-based manga EPUBs are displayed as a two-page spread, and I cannot find a way to force a single-page view.
There is already a Comics Reader setting for Single vs Two-page, but from the UI behavior it seems to apply only to comic archive formats such as CBZ/CBR/CB7, not EPUB.
Why EPUB support matters
I specifically want to keep my manga books as EPUBs rather than converting them to CBZ/CBR, because EPUB works well with embedded metadata workflows. In particular, BookOrbit's newer metadata/custom metadata features can write useful identifiers and metadata directly into the EPUB file, which is valuable for downstream use in other readers/plugins.
So for this use case, converting manga to CBZ would lose one of the biggest advantages of using BookOrbit as the library source.
Desired behavior
Ideally, image-based/fixed-layout manga EPUBs could use a single-page comic-style reading mode, either through:
- an EPUB reader setting to force single-page/no-spread rendering,
- an auto-detected “image-based EPUB / manga EPUB” mode,
- or an option to open specific EPUB files with the comic-style reader while still keeping the underlying file as EPUB.
The important part is that the book can remain an EPUB on disk, with metadata preserved/embeddable, while still being readable like a comic/manga on mobile.
Example use case
A manga EPUB where each spine item is essentially one full-page image should be readable one page at a time on a phone, similar to how the CBZ/CBR reader behaves when Page view is set to Single.
