What went wrong?
First, I want to say how much I love BookOrbit and everything the team is building. I’ve recently moved my entire reading workflow over to BookOrbit, KOReader, and Hardcover, and it’s been a fantastic experience overall.
BookOrbit successfully receives reading progress updates from KOReader, but those updates do not appear to automatically sync to Hardcover even when Hardcover auto-sync options are enabled.
The progress remains listed as pending until I manually click “Sync Now”, at which point the update is immediately pushed to Hardcover successfully.
Steps to reproduce
- Connect Hardcover integration with a valid API token.
- Enable:
- Enable sync
- Sync on status change
- Sync on progress update
- Sync on rating change
- Read a book in KOReader.
- Sync KOReader progress back to BookOrbit.
- Confirm BookOrbit updates the reading percentage.
- Wait several hours (or overnight) without syncing.
Expected vs actual behavior
Expected behavior
After KOReader progress is saved to BookOrbit, the progress update should automatically sync to Hardcover when “Sync on progress update” is enabled.
Actual behavior
BookOrbit correctly updates the reading percentage and shows:
“1 pending of 1 books”
However, the update is never automatically pushed to Hardcover. The pending item remains until I manually click “Sync Now”, which immediately syncs successfully.
Your setup
- BookOrbit: 1.8.0
- KOReader integration enabled and functioning
- Hardcover integration connected and validated
- Enable sync: ON
- Sync on status change: ON
- Sync on progress update: ON
- Sync on rating change: ON
