Running testnet3-in-a-box with two nodes, latest git HEAD, I'm getting this in my debug.log:

ProcessMessages(ping, 4 bytes) : Exception 'CDataStream::read() : end of data' caught, normally caused by a message being shorter than its stated length
ProcessMessage(ping, 4 bytes) FAILED
