Storytime will be held the first 30 minutes of the hour. After Storytime, join us for Stay and Play, where kids and their caregivers can practice interpersonal skills and have fun learning to share and socialize!

Join us for Family Storytime for all ages in our program room! This storytime series is suitable for all ages and will feature stories, songs, rhymes and dances, all to encourage the development of crucial early literacy skills. Parents and children will listen together, learn together, and sing together. Storytime is limited to the first 100 families, with a maximum of 2 adults per family group. Please bring a yoga mat or blanket to sit on.

Building resilient communities through conveying essential troubleshooting skills and celebrating repair, Fixit Clinics are do-it-together hands-on fix-n-learn community-based exploration and discovery workshops staffed by volunteer Fixit Coaches who generously share their time, tools and expertise to consult with you on the disassembly, troubleshooting, and repair of items. So bring your broken, non-functioning things -- electronic gadgets, appliances, computers, toys, sewing machines, bicycles, fabric items, etc.-- for assessment, disassembly, and possible repair. Fixit Coaches (and helpful neighbors) will be available for consultation on broken items: we'll provide workspace, specialty tools, and guidance to help you disassemble and troubleshoot your item. All ages welcome! As a family-friendly event, accompanied children are heartily invited.

This program is geared for children of all ages and their parents/caregivers! After storytime, please stay and play with us! We'll have a selection of toys available to enjoy. Meet other families and have fun playing with new and old friends.  Free, with limited capacity. Music and Movement is designed to accommodate a mix of ages and invites the entire family to participate in early literacy activities through songs, rhymes, finger plays, and movement activities. Music and Movement is a fun and interactive experience for the whole family that promotes the joys of learning for all ages. This program is geared for children of all ages and their parents/caregivers!  Free, 50 person maximum. Story Time tickets required. Another event, Music and Movement B will start at 11:15 for those that weren't able to make it inside for this event. Seating for Storytime is available on a first-come, first-served basis. A limited number of tickets will be distributed at the Information Desk 30 minutes prior to the start of Storytime.

Reading Buddies provides students in grades K-5 with an opportunity to improve their reading skills by working one-on-one with a reading coach. Reading Buddies creates a positive reading experience for beginning and developing readers and helps children build confidence as readers. Our reading coach will listen to children read and provide support in phonics, sight words, and comprehension. Students can bring their favorite book or choose from the available selection at the Alviso Branch Library to read aloud to their reading coach. Free. Registration not required.  Reading sessions are available on a first come, first served basis and the duration of reading sessions may be limited depending on the number of participating students. The Calabazas Branch of the San Jose Public Library is hosting a Sahaja Meditation Event suitable for all ages. Sahaja Meditation is a time-honored technique that promotes wellness and reduces stress by helping individuals achieve better focus, balance, and inner peace. Join us for a spectacular performance! Get a front-row preview of Children's Musical Theater San Jose's upcoming spring production of Godspell. CMT Rising Star performers ages 8–14 will take the stage to share songs from this beloved musical, followed by a talkback Q&A where audience members can ask the cast about their experience, the show, what it's like to perform live theater, and how to get involved with CMT. Godspell, with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, is a joyful, energetic celebration of community, storytelling, and song. CMT San Jose's talented cast is bringing it to life this spring with performances from April 24 - May 3. Musician Faisal Zedan and his accompanists will engage families with songs and rhythms from a diversity of Arabic music traditions throughout the Middle East and North Africa, from classical music to folk songs and pop. He'll even demonstrate a few beats you can try out for yourself!
