TypeScript 2.9 will likely be introducing a number of syntactic additions in the type space as well as the expression space including:

• Generics on JSX Elements (Parse and check type arguments on JSX opening and self-closing tags microsoft/TypeScript#22415)
  • Babel Tracking Issue: TypeScript type arguments on JSX tags #7748
• Generics on Tagged Templates (Allow type arguments in generic tagged templates microsoft/TypeScript#23430)
  • Babel Tracking Issue: Type arguments on tagged templates #7746
