We've been investigating missing support for asyncio in Celery #21, it would also make sense to investigate alternative projects that provide queues for Python projects.

Celery is very mature, and provides both queues and scheduled tasks, however async support has been long coming. Anomaly has offered to sponsor the development of asyncio support for Celery but the conversation has not progressed.

There are other projects like aiotasks which are inspired by the same design concepts as Celery, they may have made more progress on the async part at the risk of losing features like celery beat
