I think a windows installer will be useful. One of the problems aMule have is the users don't keep it running in background and this harms the network. Having an installed (with desktop and menu icons) and an option to "autostart" aMule when the computer starts will improve that.

Agreed this would be a real improvement over a portable .zip for non-technical users — desktop / start-menu shortcuts + an optional "autostart on login" toggle would meaningfully help network health. — please open a separate ticket and we can scope it there (NSIS vs WiX, autostart via Run-key vs Scheduled-Task, uninstaller behaviour, side-by-side with the existing portable .zip, etc.).
