I would like to suggest a small improvement to the Servers window that could be very useful for aMule users.
Currently, the server list shows information such as connected users, ping, priority and other data, but it does not display the file publishing limits imposed by each server.
Many ED2K servers have a maximum number of shared files that can be indexed for each user. Some servers, for example, only index 9,000 files, while others allow 100,000 files or more.
From the user's point of view, there is currently no way to know this information.
Suggested additions
It would be very useful to add some additional columns to the server list, such as:
- Soft Files Limit
- Hard Files Limit
- Max Users
Why this would be useful
Let's suppose a user shares 37,000 files.
- A server with a Hard Files Limit of 9,000 will only index part of those shared files.
- A server with a Hard Files Limit of 100,000 will be able to index all of them.
Without this information, users may assume that every server they connect to is publishing their complete shared files list, while this may not actually be the case.
As an additional improvement, aMule could display a small warning message when the number of shared files exceeds the selected server's Hard Files Limit, for example:
"You are sharing 37,241 files, but this server indexes a maximum of 9,000 files per user. Only part of your shared files will be published."
These limits have been available in eMule for many years and have proven to be very useful, especially for users sharing a large number of files.
Adding the same information to aMule would improve transparency and help users better understand how different ED2K servers handle file publishing.
