primary category not being observed in breadcrumbs (Yoast) #15071
Description
- [ x] I've read and understood the contribution guidelines.
- I've searched for any related issues and avoided creating a duplicate issue.
PLEASE NOTE: Taco Verdonschot (@tacoverdo) asked that I create a bug report here. I really don't know anything about GitHub. I had posted something on the wordpress.org forum (link at bottom).
Please give us a description of what happened.
All of a sudden the primary category that I have selected is not being displayed in the breadcrumbs.
Running WordPress 5.4. Yoast is up to date.
Deactivating all plugins did not uncover the cause (obviously breadcrumbs disappear when I deactivate Yoast). Reinstalling Classic Editor didn’t resolve the problem.
To be more precise about the problem, if there are other categories selected that come alphabetically before the primary category then the first of those becomes the category displayed in the breadcrumb.
Here’s an example: https://www.papillonservice.com/excursion/chianti-winery-tour-tasting/
In this example the breadcrumb appears as:
Home > Geographic Area > Italy: Tuscany > Chianti Winery Tour & Tasting
but it should be:
Home > Port > Livorno > Chianti Winery Tour & Tasting
Please describe what you expected to happen and why.
The primary category selected needs to appear in the breadcrumbs!
How can we reproduce this behavior?
